The members of the Centrum Arts League in conjunction with FACE are delighted to once again award three $1300 scholarships to outstanding young musicians who are graduates of northwest Harris County area high schools. Our recipients are students at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Sam Houston State University’s School of Music.
Emily Eisterhold is a 2011 graduate of Spring High School majoring in music education with an emphasis in voice at Sam Houston State University. Her philosophy is that music is something meant to be shared, not kept within, and she would love to help in spreading the joy of music to others. It is said of her that she exhibits all of the qualities one would hope for when choosing a student to serve as the face of the university and the school of music. Emily is also a second time winner of a FACE scholarship.
Carly Galloway is a 2011 graduate of Klein Forest High School majoring in music education with an emphasis in violin at the University of Houston’s Moores School. She looks forward to sharing her passion for music and for learning with her future students and to encouraging them in developing those traits. It is said of her that she is a serious musician who works hard to achieve her goals. She is kind and sensitive to others and is respected by all who know her. She is a student of whom her professors are very proud.
Jessicah Saldana is a 2010 graduate of Spring High School majoring in music education with an emphasis in flute at the University of Houston’s Moores School. She believes that music has the power to heal and that it is a universal language that she looks forward to sharing with her future students. It is said of her that she is an outstanding student who will make a wonderful music educator. She possesses all of the attributes to be a highly effective teacher. She has given much to the music school through her leadership and work ethic.
